Our Welcome Team ensures that each visitor, first-timer, and regular attendee at Unity of Wilmington is met with a friendly smile. Serving as both greeters and ushers, we help visitors orient themselves to our physical plant and assist in finding seats in our Sanctuary. We also participate in special events and holiday services. If you are interested in joining this dynamic ministry team, please contact Gail O’Brien, Volunteer Coordinator.
The Hospitality Team's focus is Sunday mornings. We are responsible for making coffee and setting up the fellowship area before the first service, and cleanup after the second service. It's a great way to support and encourage ‘community’ as well as meet so many wonderful people! Feeling like this is a good fit for you? Please contact our Team Leader Judy Birtwistle to serve on this team.
Our Sound Team utilizes the best technology and talent available to insure auditory excellence on Sundays and at other events. This team makes sure the PowerPoint presentation is rolling and the lights are on. Members of this team also operate the video camera to record the Minster's message. If you are interested in serving on this essential ministry team, please contact Team Leader George Dolan. Here is the latest Team Schedule.
Community and Worldwide Service Team
Our mission is to bond together in love to engage in meaningful service to ourselves, our local community and the world. Completed projects include: painting buildings and fences and spreading shells for the walkways at Bellamy Mansion, collecting books for Homes of Hope to help build orphanages in India, hosting a personal care item and food drive for Good Shepherd Ministries to serve the homeless here in Wilmington, making little dresses for girls in Africa, collecting food and school supplies for our local public school children, crafting items for Lower Cape Fear Hospice and more! Perhaps our biggest single effort and blessing is our involvement in preparing almost three hundred lasagna dinners for homebound seniors for Meals on Wheels delivered on Christmas Eve. We are committed to serving our worldwide Unity family. Check out our current projects here.
Special Event Teams: Annual Auction, Yard Sale, and More!

Our Music Ministry at Unity of Wilmington provides music to suit all of our services ~ sometimes contemplative, sometimes rockin', sometimes old fashioned, sometimes modern. The music at Unity is always uplifting. This ministry welcomes amateur and professional musicians, and singers to join the team.
- Sunday Choir. Our mission is to lead in the singing of congregational songs. We set the consciousness for inspiration and the movement of the Holy Spirit through us with our vocal presentation and our positive, supportive, attitude. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
- Special Events Choir. Gathering once or twice a year for select performances, this choir is led by Eileen Argenbright. Rehearsals will be scheduled based on performance dates.
- House Band and Special Vocalists. Our house band and panel of special vocalists are comprised of professional musicians. Hiring is done on the basis of auditions with the Music Director.
Please contact Lisa Keating, Music Director to find out more.
Art Gallery Ministry
A small gallery to acknowledge and honor the movement of Spirit in the creative expression of our members. Selected twice a year by a lottery method, each artist’s work is displayed for a two-month period. Proceeds of all sales are shared.
The purpose of a Care Team is to support individuals and their families as their lives are impacted by physical disability, illness, surgery, hospice care and life transition. Care Teams are formed with the help of the person in need and what they feel is the best way for the team to support them. Team members are often selected by the individual and their family as these difficult times are very intimate and privacy is important. This essential ministry has been instrumental in helping members of our community find peace, courage and strength in times of challenge. If you would like to be put on the list to serve on a future Care Team please contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
Chaplains fill a variety of roles in a spiritual community. We pray with people before and after the Sunday celebration services, and at times during the week when requests are made to do so. For prayer support, please contact Rev. Nickie.
Healing Night Team
This group of healers is comprised of individuals from both Unity of Wilmington and the greater community. On the first Monday of every month, September through June, they offer a variety of energy healing modalities. If you are interested in offering your healing love and light, please contact Sis Tyler, Team Coordinator.
Standing Board Committees
Our Nominating Team is responsible for searching, interviewing, and nominating potential board members. The composition and election to this team is determined by our Bylaws.
Our Prosperity Team is comprised of our minister, Board treasurer, Board assistant treasurer, and a few members at large. The primary mission of the Prosperity Team is to support the creation of Unity of Wilmington’s Fiscal Vision, the annual budget. If you have experience with financial oversight or accounting and have an interest in serving our spiritual community in this capacity, please contact our Board.
